Questions, Answered

Over time, the same handful of questions turns up in our inbox. Rather than answer each one separately, we have gathered them here. If yours is missing, the Write to Us page explains how to send it.

About the team

Who writes Nosentrik Health Blog?

Three writers working under the pen names Odran, Zelie and Ingrith. They read public health guidance and patient material and turn it into plain-language entries. How they share the work is described on The People and the Method.

Is anyone on the team a health professional?

No. We say this openly on several pages because it matters. Our role is to explain topics and to point you to the person who can examine you.

Why use pen names?

We would rather readers judge the entries on their clarity and care than on the people behind them. The approach also keeps the focus on the subject.

About the entries

Why do your guides not tell me what my numbers should be?

Because a healthy range depends on your age, conditions and medicines. Our guide on home blood pressure concentrates on taking a fair reading. Your GP or practice nurse can tell you what the figures mean for you.

Why does nearly every article end with a list of warning signs?

Some situations need prompt care, and we would rather repeat that than leave it out. Reading those lines takes seconds and can save time when it counts.

How do you handle vaping and other smoke-free products?

Those entries are written for adults who already smoke and are weighing up alternatives. We describe the options without pretending any nicotine product is harmless, and we never suggest them to non-smokers.

Do you recommend specific brands?

Generally not. We prefer to explain which features to look for, such as a validated monitor or a well-fitting cuff, and leave the choice to you and your pharmacist, dentist or optician.

How old is the information?

Every entry shows the date it was published, and revisions are dated too. If something looks out of date, tell us and we will check it.

About the site

Does Nosentrik keep a record of which entries I open?

No. There are no analytics, ads or tracking scripts. Your banner answer is the single item saved, and it sits in your browser rather than with us. See Privacy & Data for details.

Can I share or quote an entry?

Sharing a link is always fine. Short quotations are welcome with a credit and a link back; the details are in Ground Rules for Readers.

I am new here. Where should I start?

Try New Here? Read This, which sorts the library by everyday situations, or browse a single shelf such as Teeth & Gums.

Quick replies

Things readers ask us first

Brief answers here; the longer versions live on Questions, Answered.

Does anyone on the team have medical training?

No. We are writers who rely on public guidance and say plainly where our knowledge ends.

Will you tell me if my readings are normal?

We explain how to measure carefully, but what the result means for you is a question for your GP or nurse.

Are the vaping entries meant for non-smokers?

Never. They are written for adults who already smoke and want a balanced look at alternatives.

How can I flag an error?

Email us with the entry title and what looks wrong; corrections are checked and dated.
