What to send our way
- Corrections. If an entry looks inaccurate, unclear or out of date, tell us which one and what caught your eye. Every correction is checked and, where needed, the entry is revised and re-dated.
- Topic ideas. Everyday questions about the heart, eyes, teeth, clinic visits or smoke-free choices are the ones we can usually answer well in general terms.
- Questions about the site. How we write, how we treat data, or how to quote a short passage from an entry.
- Privacy requests. Anything to do with your personal data under the GDPR. The details are on Privacy & Data.
What we cannot do
We are not health professionals and cannot give individual advice by email. We cannot interpret your test results, suggest a treatment or tell you whether a symptom is serious. If you are worried about your health, please contact your GP, pharmacist, dentist or optician. If it cannot wait, phone your local emergency number rather than writing to us.
For the same reason, please keep personal medical details out of your message. A short description of your question is enough for us to understand it, and it keeps your private information private.
Helping us reply quickly
- Name the entry you are writing about, or paste its address.
- Describe in a sentence or two what you think is missing or wrong.
- If you have seen newer public guidance, mention where.
- Tell us if you would like a reply, or if you are simply letting us know.
Reply times
There are only three of us, and replies can take several days, sometimes longer when a correction needs careful checking. A real member of the desk opens each one. If your question would help other readers, we may turn it into a future entry without using your name or any detail that could identify you.
